The British Model Alliance insists that models understand the most effective way to excel their careers before entering the industry.
Those working in the modelling and entertainment industry have options as to how they would like to be represented. Individuals electing for agency representation are given government rights.
To qualify as an agency working covered by these rights, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Relying on an agency to find work (permanent or fixed-term)
- Are not self-employed
If you opt for agency representation, agencies have the right to charge you a fee for the following:
- Taking commission (specific percentage) from your earnings from a job found by them
- Publishing your photos and/or information on their website (content must be approved by you before published)
The British Model Alliance notes that agencies must detail any fees via a contract before they can legally take a commission from your earnings.
